Nickname: Gracie Jiu-Jitsu: Steve Maxwell gave the name “little” Tony. The nickname finally stuck at the Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Academy Instructor’s Program in Torrance when Royce Gracie and everyone else used “little” Tony! In Mexico, the academies for seminars used Toñito; in Brazil, Toninho.
In Japan, Tonichi was coined at Judo practice due to the misspelling of the name Tony on the uniform, where the little children read and made fun of calling Tonichi instead of Tony.
Ao Tonbo (Blue Dragonfly) was loosely used in Kendo sessions because Tony had a habit of stepping backward, and instructors instructed him to move forward. After one training session with a 4th dan named Komine, he said it was challenging to stop Tony when he moved forward with his attacks; thus, dragonfly with blue eyes (Ao Tonbo).

Jiu Jitsu Leadership Conferences: Information
The Jiu Jitsu Leadership Conference(s) is an ideal and intimate way for Prof. Tony Pacenski to share his experience and knowledge with any individual or small group (up to 3 people) or online distance learning consulting. The structure of the conference is hands-on exploring Jiu Jitsu principles of the art, educational teaching pedagogies to become a master instructor and business repositioning modules to grow a successful community. At this time, the Jiu Jitsu Leadership Conferences are held at Prof. Tony Pacenski Private Dojo in Florida USA. Distance consulting is completed through online platforms.
“To Gracie Jiu Jitsu Students and Instructors who want to DISCOVER a more profound understanding of Invisible Jiu Jitsu, it is time to consider attending a Jiu Jitsu Leadership Conference. And you should do this if you are early on your path or a time-honored veteran.”
Let us face a few facts, Gracie Jiu Jitsu is hard. It takes a long time to earn a Black Belt, the knowledge, and experience that goes with it. It is important to have guidance from the beginning of your journey and mentorship further along. Here is a second fact, too often Gracie Jiu Jitsu students and instructors believe they are studying the art of Jiu Jitsu for self-defense, yet year-after-year sadly the results show a limited understanding of the art because of the missing invisible elements of Gracie Jiu Jitsu’s effectiveness and Jiu Jitsu Invisible Force Theory. If you don’t believe this, when exposed to this type of curriculum students new to the art feel more empowered and experienced instructors begin to question everything they have been taught by returning to the roots of the system.
This type of knowledge is hands-on and does not work well through video material. Also, a few challenges these days are how Gracie Jiu Jitsu classes are modeled does not fully explore this type of training. Instructors that are both certified or not haven’t spent time practicing this specific & specialized form of knowledge, and sadly the very few people in the Jiu Jitsu community that have invisible force theory in their resumes do not teach the full range of the curriculum due to issues such as:
Time Restraints
A Business Model
They Don’t Want You To Learn It.
So, to put things into perspective, contact me if your Gracie Jiu-Jitsu training and practice aren’t working for you.
Having practiced and taught Gracie Jiu-Jitsu for close to 25 years, I have experienced the benefits of learning self-defense and competition. I have also found myself questioning in a healthy way what I have been learning after studying with Master Rickson Gracie. As a co-founder of the Jiu-Jitsu Global Federation (JJGF) with Rickson and Carlos Gama, I have been blessed to help design curriculums for different demographics of people learning Gracie Jiu-Jitsu. What stuck out to me the most was learning the theories of Invisible Force and connection as applied by Master Rickson Gracie. In addition, I was given the go-ahead to write the only book about Rickson Gracie’s Jiu Jitsu by the man himself! All this time and study has led me to know what works, prove how it works and give Gracie Jiu Jitsu students and instructors what they need to make Jiu Jitsu work based on Principles.
I currently serve in the United States Air Force, and my time to teach Gracie Jiu-Jitsu is extremely limited. While on the mats with students, instructors, and the Armed Forces, I enjoy sharing my experience and knowledge of Gracie Jiu-Jitsu. It is always nice to hear that some have read my book and watched my videos online; however, more importantly, there is a very real experience of planting the seeds of Invisible Jiu Jitsu in a student’s path. It is very powerful.
The best way for me to create this experience is to invite Gracie Jiu Jitsu Enthusiasts to the Jiu Jitsu Leadership Conference. This is a private training in:
Gracie Jiu Jitsu and Invisible Force Theory
Instructor Teaching Pedagogies; including Prof. Pacenski’s specific “Student Praxis Pedagogy.”
